Why am I writing this?

I would like to preface this. I am just a 25-year-old struggling to figure out the adult world and wanted to share some of the things I am learning along the way. I don’t have a CFA, CPA, or any other fancy certifications that give me any particular authority to tell you how to manage your money. Having spent time working with the best institutional investors in the world at private equity funds, hedge funds, and investment banks has just taught me that there is a massive universe of information that I don’t know on this topic. That being said, I plan on continuing to relentlessly pursue a better model of personal finance and will happily share what I learn. Hope this helps someone out there.

I decided to write this blog for three reasons (after spending the last several years working in consulting, I can only think in 3s):

Financial Education

There is so much noise out there surrounding managing your finances, but so few people consider themselves adequately equipped to handle their day-to-day financial questions. Our educational system has failed us when it comes to managing our finances, but with the proliferation of free resources on personal finance over the last 10 years there is no reason for that to stop us from educating ourselves.

Investing Advice

Just saving money =/= preparing yourself for the future. I don’t think you should aim to get by with just the Ben Franklin school of thought
that “a penny saved is a penny earned”. Think bigger. A penny saved and invested well…that can be a game changer (did someone say penny stocks?…just kidding those are very risky – avoid)

.

Input

I want to hear from everyone who reads this on what you think about how I am structuring my finances and what ideas/strategies you have for gaining financial independence. This is a learning journey, and I have just started it. Hopefully it will be a fun ride.

And so begins my journey at figuring out how my passive income can make more than my active income by the time I’m in my mid-30s…shoot for the stars, right?
